Welcome to Manifest your Homestead, the Podcast where farmers in waiting work toward building the sustainable lives they dream of. No matter how big or small your current patch of earth is, we work together through manifesting and business building ideas that get you going on the road to the homestead of your dreams.

But we’re not just dreaming, hoping and wishing here — no we are taking action right now and working on our daily manifestation practice knowing that our corner of heaven is already out there waiting for us, we just need to step into our dusty overalls and become the rightful stewards of our land.

If the vision of having your ideal homestead dances around your head while you practice your canning, quilting or soap making skills - then you are in the right place!

We welcome you to our society of hopeful homesteaders as we turn our waiting room into our classroom and stockpile the skills, knowledge and practice we need to be successful…on the homestead.

Hey, Hey, it’s Lizz your Host and Hopeful Homesteader and today I want to celebrate — this is episode 1 of the Manifest your Homestead Podcast! I want to celebrate the fact that you’ve found us, because listening to this episode is just one more step in your manifestation process! Woot woot!

So, I want to share with you what this is all about and how exactly it all came to be.But for some context that you can relate to, let me tell you a bit about me.

I live in the Florida Keys, zone 9-11, with my husband, my 10-year-old daughter, my parents and our dog Gordo. I work from home and I’m a marketing and brand strategist by trade, I help entrepreneurs grow their small businesses and personal brands. My husband has his own company as a tile contractor, he’s super handy and was raised on a farm in Cuba.

I, on the other hand, have been a city girl all my life raised in Miami, have never grown anything in my life and have never owned any animal other than dogs. Stay with me, this is important. I lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico for 5 years where my daughter was born and have always preferred the solitary countryside life I could only experience while on vacation.

Over the past 8 months or so, I’ve been obsessed with thinking of the day I could get to my countryside farm — the dream seemed so far away, how would I ever get there from my current situation? I combed over potential properties nightly, ones with streaming creeks in the back, root cellars, empty churches on the property and grew sadder the more I saw. This all seemed so far away.

I watched hours of YouTube videos of homesteaders listening to hear for the secret of how they started — how they got to where I wanted to be, which made it all sound even further away. One night, while watching Roots an Refuge I learned about Homestead Rescue on the Discovery channel and was hooked. I binge watched till 3 in the morning and it hit me like a lightning bolt.

How will I ever get to my farm if I’m not a farmer! I don’t even know a farmer, I haven’t even been to a real farm. I don’t cook from scratch, I don’t grow anything and I don’t buy from farmer’s markets. I knew logically that THIS was the change I need to get me started on my journey.

How could I use what I know now to align myself with my vision of my future?

I became, the Farmer’s Marketer. I knew if I could help farmers and homesteaders with what I knew in marketing and brand development, I would begin learning and embodying the life and lessons of homesteaders.

You see, in my business, I coach entrepreneurs to embody the things they want BEFORE actually getting them as part of a manifestation of their dreams. This was exactly what I was going to do.

The next morning, I grabbed a big fat college notebook and began to declare myself as a homesteader and my husband as a rancher and the ideas literally flooded the pages of that notebook — you can actually see that notebook on my Youtube Channel where I walk you through everything I did in my manifestation practice.

In an episode of Roots and Refuge, Jess ___ said that she wished she would’ve turned her waiting room into her classroom while she was dreaming of her homestead to learn and test the skills she needed. Well those were the words I needed to hear at that moment! I began listing all the skills I would need on my ideal homestead, like canning, cleaning fish, soap making, baking from scratch, and pottery — you see my farm has a general store on site.

Each week, I commit to learning a new recipe in the kitchen - I began with rice pudding, then artisan breads, then mango jelly and baked apple cider vinegar donuts. I emptied my closet of all my city clothes, gowns and heels, my cupboards of all the fancy dishware I had and traded it in for chunky traditional 2nd-hand crockery I’ll proudly display in my new farmhouse kitchen. You see where I’m going here?

I hadn’t fully shared what I was doing with my husband out of fear he would think I’d simply lost my mind, and to avoid putting undue stress on him thinking I would be calling a moving truck in no time.

The first weekend after my farmhouse awakening, I took my family to 2 working farms and a large feed store. Here is where my husband began to catch the vision. Being able to speak to the farmers, snack on the fruit, buy from their shops and see the bustle of the feed store set him right back to his roots as a farm boy. I could see it in his eyes — I made him try on his rancher’s hat. You see, his horse already has a name, it’s named after his grandfather. Our farm is also named, a combination of both our last names.

I encourage you to do the same as you manifest your homestead. Turn your waiting room, which is the time before you get to your dream homestead, into your classroom. Begin practicing your future farmcraft, now. Learn the skills you will use on your homestead, now.
Merrian-Webster’s dictionary defines Homestead as a home and adjoining land occupied by a family — isn’t that what you have right now? You. Are a homesteader! Declare it! Go ahead, write it down somewhere right now!
